The local chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Incorporated; Theta Rho Zeta Chapter of Lansing, Michigan, hosted its Finer Womanhood Luncheon on May 7, 2023, at The Michigan State University Club in Lansing, Michigan. This annual fundraiser event is held to raise scholarship funding for local high school seniors as they prepare for college. The theme for the 2023 "Finer Womanhood Luncheon was “Powerful Women” which featured a keynote speech by M. Janice Townsend, Trustee Ypsilanti Community School Board of Education.

During her speech, Trustee Townsend emphasized in her address that we are all powerful women. We can give back to our communities and schools, and be the example of women that future young women need to see to be influential in today's marketplace. She kept with the theme "Finer Women- Powerful Women," by encouraging attendees to "never let your failure define your future, it was only a building block to get you to your success."

Lansing Native Cathy A. Morgan was recognized by Zeta Phi Beta Incorporated for countless years of service within the Greater Lansing Community and exemplifying characteristics of Finer Womanhood. Cathy is well known for her Pastor Salute Luncheon, which continues to grow by leaps and bounds. She also is well-versed in the public relations and media space.

Ms. Tasha James was also among the women honored as the Zeta of the Year. She has held many seats within her local Zeta chapter, including her current role of secretary. Tasha is always willing to serve and lend a helping hand to those in need.
