The Lansing area 'might not' get as walloped by the first winter storm of the season as predicted yesterday. Here is the latest forecast for Lansing and vicinity from the National Weather Service as of 4 am today (Thursday):
"Snow showers, mainly after 1 pm. High near 33. Light west-southwest wind becoming southwest 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around 2 inches."
Yesterday, forecasters said Lansing could see 4-6 inches.
As of this posting, there is a winter storm warning in effect for Barry, Calhoun, Eaton, and Ionia counties. There is a winter weather advisory out for Ingham, Clinton, Jackson, Gratiot and Montcalm counties.

Pictured below is a "Snowman Fan" in the stands at last night's game between Central Michigan and Western Michigan in Mount Pleasant. The cross-state rivals played in a driving snowstorm that dumped about 3-5 inches of the white stuff on Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
For the record, Western won 12-10 on a late field goal.
