The percentage of LGBTQ adults in the U.S. now stands at 7.1%. That figure has doubled over the past decade.
Researchers with the Gallup public opinion organization say if younger Americans continue to come out at increasing rates, they predict the proportion of adults in this country who identify as LGBTQ will exceed 10% in the near future.
According to recent polling from Gallup, more than 1 in 5 (21%) of Generation Z adults identify as LGBTQ. *[Gen Z born 1997-2012].
