Suspect awaiting Charges in weekend Massacre at LGBTQ Nightclub in Colorado

A 22-year-old man identified as Anderson Lee Aldrich is facing 5 counts of murder and more than a dozen counts of attempted murder for Saturday night’s massacre at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs.

Witnesses say shots began to be fired at just past midnight on Saturday night inside Club Q. The calendar had just advanced to Sunday, November 20th. A day, ironically, which was designated “Transgender Day of Remembrance.”

Police say a man walked into the club, pulled out an AR-15 assault-style rifle and began shooting. According to eyewitnesses, the carnage only lasted for a couple of minutes. Some patrons jumped the gunman and subdued him until police arrived.

Aldrich suffered some injuries and remains hospitalized under guard this morning.

Authorities initially said 18 people were injured but later adjusted that total up to 25.

Nineteen of the 25 injured had gunshot wounds.

Police, including FBI agents, are investigating whether the attack was a hate crime, noting Club Q’s relationship with the LGBTQ community.
