Spartans face 'Nova tonight at the Breslin Center

Two of the nation's premier men's college basketball programs will meet tonight in East Lansing.

Michigan State will host Villanova as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games which pit teams from the Big Ten against Big East squads.

The Wildcats have won the men's NCAA basketball championship twice in the past 7 seasons -- in 2016 and 2018.

The Spartans and Villanova have met only four times in the two programs' histories and never before in East Lansing. The most recent MSU/Nova matchup was in 2002, and the one before that was in 1989. Villanova leads the series between the two schools, 3-1.

Tonight's game is scheduled to tip off a few minutes past 8 o'clock. The game will be broadcast nationally on the sports cable channel, FS1.
