The Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. will invest three-quarters of a billion dollars in its southwest Michigan facility to increase capacity for making injectable medications. A move the company says will create 300 new jobs.
A Pfizer executive announced the investment yesterday (Monday) at a news conference (pictured below) with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The $750 million in new investment is on top of the nearly $500 million the company spent last year to expand its facilities in Portage, near Kalamazoo.
Pfizer officials say these investments will make it possible for the company to distribute pre-filled syringes of medication, making them easier to use and increasing patient access,
Some of the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were produced at Pfizer's 1,300-acre facility in Portage.
