Mayor Andy Schor Announces ‘Free Parking Fridays’

City of Lansing to Offer Free On-Street Metered Parking

Every Friday Through Summer; Time Limits to be Enforced

(LANSING) – Mayor Andy Schor today announced that on-street metered parking in the City of Lansing will be free of charge every Friday, beginning on Friday, June 3, 2022, and running through Friday, September 2, 2022. Maximum time limits and other safety violations will continue to be enforced.

“Summer is a great time to encourage people to get downtown or to Old Town and visit some of our great local restaurants and shops. By offering free on-street metered parking every Friday we hope to encourage residents and visitors to shop and eat local and help support small businesses,” said Mayor Schor.

“Free Parking downtown offers a huge benefit for those looking to dine downtown or do some shopping at one of our great small retailers. This also allows more people to Lift Up our Local businesses every Friday through the Summer! We encourage everyone to head downtown to Shop, Dine, and Support Downtown Lansing businesses,” stated Cathleen Edgerly, Executive Director of Downtown Lansing, Inc.

On-street parking maximums will continue to be monitored and ticketed. Visitors should look at the signage near where they park for that area’s maximum allowed time. All other parking infractions, outside of on-street metered parking, will continue to be enforced. More information can be found at www.lansingmi.gov/parking.
