MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Stood so very "Tall"

Til the night that

A crazed man's bullet

Caused this leader to fall

But his ideas will live on forever

If we'll remember our 'Loved Ones' words

For Dr. King sought God's favor

And his prayers were surely heard

We must strive to follow these teachings

Just the same as if he were here

Let us strive to heed his preaching

Although our way may grow drear

We should try to improve our 'present'

And to do the thing that is right

We must improve"NOW" for the future

And stand up for this righteous fight

We want him to rest in 'peace' now

As we continue on in his way

Then one day, "Thank You" and "Well done"

We will hear our "Loved One" say

"You did not give in to "Bigotry"

You stood up - straight and tall

For God Almighty was fighting with you

And He is the mightiest One of all

You did not give in to "Pettiness"

That's the greatest robber of "Goodwill"

For if defeat can get in through "Pettiness"

Then your heart with HATRED can fill

You must fight on as "good Soldiers"

And stand firm, 'side-by-side'

Then these waves of "Defeat' and 'Hatred'

My God will help you "OVERRIDE"
