LCC to launch College Connect

LANSING, Mich. (May 18, 2023) – Lansing Community College is set to launch College Connect on Monday, July 14. The comprehensive, three-week program will run through Friday, August 4. The free program will prepare students to have a successful first semester as they begin their academic journey.

College Connect participants will receive a $500 stipend upon completion of the program and will receive college career and readiness training to navigate their transition to college. Reading, writing, and math skill support along with a loaned laptop, free Wi-Fi while on campus, hotspot access, transportation assistance and lite meals and snacks are included in the program.

The statewide program administered by the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA), is designed to combat learning loss associated with the interruptions to in-person learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sally Welch, LCC Provost is eager to see the program launch. “I’m excited for students to connect with LCC this summer and receive the support needed to prepare for a successful fall semester. This initiative will provide the academic, career exploration, and life success skills to help students advance through their LCC journey.”
