Join the Lansing Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, April 15, to be transported from East Lansing’s Wharton Center to Hogwarts as the LSO plays selections from the Wondrous World of Harry Potter. “When making the selections, we wanted to ensure to include powerful, recognizable pieces along with storytelling elements for audience members who may not have seen the movies,” said Nicholas Buonanni, LSO librarian. “Anyone can enjoy the concert, not just those who know and love the ‘Harry Potter’ series.” The symphony will play selections from the iconic scores of John Williams, Patrick Doyle, James Newton Howard, Nicholas Hooper and Alexandre Desplat. Selections include the “Harry Potter” movies and “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.” The symphony will play the selections in chronological order, starting with “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” “Movie music is magical in itself,” said Timothy Muffit, LSO music director and conductor. “These scores are not only beautiful pieces, but truly a tour de force of orchestral playing.” For complete details, visit lansingsymphony.org or call the LSO office at 517-487-5001. This concert is sponsored by Auto-Owners Insurance, Neogen and Plante Moran.
