If you've noticed more cops making traffic stops around Lansing lately, there's a reason for that.
The Lansing police department is in the midst of what officials are calling a “Maximum Enforcement Period," or MEP. Cops on patrol are being extra vigilant – looking out for any and all unsafe practices from drivers – like speeding, distracted driving, and signs of impaired driving.
It's an effort to keep Lansing streets ‘safer’ during this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Lansing police launched this MEP on Wednesday night, and it will continue until midnight Monday.
The best advice is – to wear your seatbelt, don’t speed, and NO impaired or distracted driving.
