Credit union to award four individuals with up to $2,500 each as part of essay contest; applications due May 31
Do you have medical debt? A significant outstanding credit card balance? Behind on monthly payments? If so, LAFCU wants to help. The Michigan credit union is now accepting entries for its Pathway to Financial Transformation Essay Contest. Four individuals will be awarded grants totaling up to $10,000 to aid in debt repayment and improve their financial stability. The deadline to submit is May 31.
To apply, individuals will need to submit a one-page, 500-word essay that addresses past choices that have influenced financial decisions, personal financial progress that has occurred within the past 12 months, and how the money would be used to transform future financial goals. Winners will be selected June 19.
“LAFCU is committed to showing individuals various pathways to achieve financial success,” said Kelli Ellsworth Etchison, LAFCU chief marketing officer and chief diversity officer. “We understand that it is not a one-size-fits-all approach and everyone has different backgrounds and goals. Therefore, we want to provide opportunities like the Pathway to Financial Transformation Essay Contest that allow entrants to reflect on their current financial situation and think critically about how they would create a pathway to a better financial life for themselves.”
Submission rules and guidelines are available online: www.lafcu.com/ptft. Entrants must live, work, worship, or attend school in Michigan, but are not required to be members of LAFCU.
