Georgia Voters will Choose a U.S. Senator Today

The final race of the 2022 midterms will be decided today in Georgia. Voters will be going to polls in the U.S. Senate runoff between Democratic incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock and Trump-endorsed Republican Herschel Walker.

The polls will be open today in Georgia from 7 am to 7 pm.

Officials say 1.8 million Georgians have already voted early or by mail. According to a New York Times investigation, mail-in voting is down in the state by nearly 80% from the fall 2020 election. Despite the fact that allegations of voter fraud in the presidential race were ALL PROVEN FALSE, the GOP-majority Georgia legislature changed the state's mail-in voter laws. Those changes 'may' account for at least some of the decline in vote-by-mail numbers for this runoff election compared to 2020.

The last pre-election voter preference poll showed Warnock with a lead over Walker of 52% to 48%, barely outside the margin of error.

The Chronicle News will bring you the election results from Georgia as they become available tonight and Wednesday morning.
