FUNNY IS FUNNY COMEDY CLUB GRAND OPENING & RIBBON CUTTING-SEPTEMBER 24, 2021


LANSING, Michigan - September 24, 2021, at 5:00pm - Funny Is Funny Comedy Club at Greenwood District Studios will be bringing back the funny to the greater Lansing area, beginning with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, followed by the first night of comedy with guaranteed laughter from Detroit native, Tony Roberts!


This exciting event with take place at Greenwood District Studios, located at 921 Mall Drive W, at 5:00pm. Guests will be treated to refreshments and being a part of this history making Black-Owned comedy club as it opens its doors later that evening. Show times for the Tony Roberts event are 8:00pm & 10:30pm. Tickets are on sale now via the website. In addition to the funny, the comedy club has partnered with One North Kitchen & Bar for its catering needs. When you purchase a ticket, you have the option to purchase your food at the same time. When you arrive to the show, so does your food.


Amaru, Owner of Greenwood District Studios and Funny Is Funny Comedy Club, is committed to the success of the comedy club and studio. He continues to move forward each day by stating, “We will show the industry what inclusion looks like!” How does the community benefit? The studio as a whole supports the community with direct community upgrades and upkeep. Data from various film offices showed the rise in filming and commercial production had boosted local spending and job creation, while increasing commerce for local businesses, hotels, office and warehouse leasing, vehicle and equipment leasing and local tax revenues.


A little info about the owner who is a professional comedian among other things - As a skilled and accomplished filmmaker and screenwriter, Amaru has also been on the comedy scene touring the nation for over 22 years as a professional stand-up comic. His goal is to provide a welcoming space to all, visitor and entrepreneur alike. A triple Telly Award-winning Filmmaker/Writer/Actor/Director, Amaru has been inspired and encouraged by the world's chaos to find a solution… a solution that creates jobs and economic development within underserved and underrepresented communities and saves his career at the same time.
