For what's being called "the very first time," Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney today endorsed a Democrat, Representative Elissa Slotkin. And further, the Wyoming politician is planning to headline a campaign event with Slotkin in her Lansing-area district next Tuesday.
Cheney is co-chair of the House January 6th committee and her stinging criticism of former President Trump was the reason she lost her August primary race to a GOP opponent endorsed by Trump.
Slotkin is facing off against Republican State Senator Tom Barrett for the redrawn 7th district US House seat. It has been called the nation's most expensive congressional race this fall with total spending expected to be around $27 million.
The contest for Michigan's 7th District is considered among the most competitive in the country. And it's one that could determine control of the U.S House of Representatives.
