Michigan, October 17, 2023 — As Manufacturing Month comes to a close, manufacturing councils from across Michigan, along with the American Rosie the Riveter Association Michigan Willow Run Chapter, ask residents to dress as Rosie the Riveter for Halloween.
Manufacturing Month is a time to reflect on the contributions of Michigan's manufacturing industry and the pivotal role women have played throughout its history. Rosie the Riveter, an iconic World War II symbol, embodies the spirit and determination of the women who stepped up to work in the manufacturing and trade sectors when the country needed them the most.
"Dressing like Rosie the Riveter is more than a costume – it's a powerful tribute to the incredible women who paved the way and a reminder that we can all be part of shaping the future of manufacturing together," said Cindy Kangas, Executive Director of the Capital Area Manufacturing Council
How to Participate
Spread the Word: Encourage women in your factories, labs, robotics clubs, schools and friend groups to dress up with you.
Create a Rosie Look: Dress up as Rosie the Riveter by wearing the iconic blue jumpsuit or a denim shirt, a red bandana, and flexing your "We Can Do It!" attitude.
Share Your Costume: Wear your costume to work and Halloween events. Take photos of your costume and email them to cindy@camconline. Post them on social media using the hashtag #RosieHalloweenMichigan.
This Halloween, the manufacturing community hopes to inspire hundreds of people to celebrate our rich manufacturing history, our commitment to supporting women in the industry, and our determination to create an inclusive future.
