(LANSING, MI) - For the third year, Brotherhood Against Drugs (B.A.D.) will hold its Back to School Backpack Giveaway on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from noon to 4:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Park, located at 2125 W. Hillsdale, Lansing, Michigan 48915.
The event is held in honor of Dr. Joan Jackson Johnson, also known as ‘Triple J”, who was no stranger to the Lansing community when it came to giving. The vision of the back-to-school backpack giveaway serves to keep Triple J’s legacy alive through the spirit of helping families who otherwise may not have the financial means to purchase the necessities for their children who are returning to school after the summer recess.
Domino’s Pizza are proud to play a role in joining an amazing organization that brings magic to the community. They will be joined with other vendors at St. Joseph Park who will provide free services such as haircuts, blood pressure checks, sports, physicals, and footwear. Free backpacks are limited and distributed to children on a first come, first serve basis.
Attendees can participate in games and various giveaways. Free food will be available, and persons may bring their lawn chair to enjoy the
entertainment and Bigman Genesis of Power 96.5 FM Radio. B.A.D. anticipates approximately five hundred families from the
community to converge on the park.
B.A.D. constitutes all that is good. “Just as our program focuses on building up the self-esteem of substance abuse persons, we
are seeking to build up the self-esteem and contribute to the lives of children as they return to school,” said co-founder, Larry
Johnson, Sr. We are excited to be able to educate, motivate, and change the lives of others. B.A.D. is thankful for the many
sponsors who have contributed to make this event possible.”
