Voter Registration Drive to be held at Lansing Community College September 18 - 20
Lansing, Mich. – In preparation for the November 7 Election held in all municipalities in Ingham, Eaton and parts of Clinton County, Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope and Lansing Community College (LCC) announced plans to host a blitz of voter registration and information drives at the College’s Downtown campus.
With the Voter Registration deadline of October 9 for the General Election, the Lansing City Clerk’s orange voter registration tent will be located outside of the Arts & Sciences building located at LCC’s downtown campus September 18-20 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. In addition to having voter registration forms completed on-site, applications and information will be available about absentee voting along with answers to frequently asked questions.
“We need to engage and communicate with first time and infrequent voters,” said Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope. “Over 2,000 18-21-year olds are estimated not to be registered to vote in the City of Lansing. I am proud to work with Lansing Community College to connect with some of these citizens who may be attending LCC. We want to make it convenient as possible to become engaged.”
“We are pleased to work with the city's efforts to get out the vote,” said Andrew P. Abood, Chair of the LCC Board of Trustees. “Thank you for choosing Lansing Community College for a voter registration tent. Having this voter registration drive on campus will make it convenient for our students who juggle school, work and family to participate in an important aspect of our communities civil rights.
“If you are not registered, whether you are a student, professor, employee, or a member of the public at large, please feel free to stop by the tent and register to vote.”
